You need to keep a balanced perspective of the Word of God. Too often Christians get off in the ditch because they only hear and receive one side of a message instead of taking the whole teaching on it. We have this problem today in the church with the issue of grace (among other issues). Yes, God is merciful and His grace is renewed every day. But that doesn’t mean we get rid of scriptures to prove what we want. No, we stay with the Word of God.
That is happening today in the church. No, we must stay balanced and stay with the Word of God. If we don’t, we’ll get off in the ditch, start believing all kinds of kooky things, and we don’t want that.
Of course, sometimes you need to over-emphasize truths. For instance, at one point, the Holy Ghost went into obscurity. So Jesus Christ told Dr. Kenneth E Hagin to start having Holy Ghost meetings. This was the Holy Ghost doing it, not some man and his opinion that it needed to be done.
God told Dad Hagin, that there was a move of the Holy Spirit that would be lost to this generation if he didn’t start leading them back into it. So Dad Hagin started having Holy Ghost meetings. We have Holy Ghost meetings today, but these meetings emphasized the Holy Ghost. People were laughing and dancing and jumping. Now we can have those in any meeting and we thank God for it and yield to it. But it seemed like every service he had that was a Holy Ghost meeting, that’s what happened. People were running, dancing, falling out in the spirit, people were having visions. And there were some that accused Dad Hagin of all kinds of things. In fact, he was accused of splitting the RHEMA camp because he was having these Holy Ghost meetings. How can you split something when Jesus says to do it? You can’t split anything. It’s what God says. If people disagree with God, it’s them that are doing the splitting. It’s not God and it’s not you, if you are following what God says to do.
So for several years Dad Hagin had Holy Ghost meetings. And there were a lot of things that went on that were of the Holy Ghost, and there were a lot of things that went on that weren’t of the Holy Ghost. Now I’m not saying it came out from Dad Hagin, but it did come out through the crowd participation. But this is what Dan Hagin said, “Anytime that you are having a move of God you’re going to have some wild fire around.” In other words, there’s going to be misguided people that want to get in, and they just don’t know what to do. So they miss it. That doesn’t mean that you go around and don’t do anything.
Dad Hagin also said that he would rather have the Holy Ghost moving, have God moving, than have the order of a graveyard. He said that you would have the wildfire, those that would go crazy and miss it in these meetings, but not to worry, there’s always enough old, wet blankets around to put it out.
But if you noticed, first, these Holy Ghost meetings were started by God, not Dad Hagin. It was God that saw a need for them and an overemphasis on them. Secondly, these Holy Ghost meetings didn’t last forever. Once the next generation understood about the moving of the spirit, the teaching and meetings were brought back to a balance. The Holy Ghost will overemphasize things for a while. But he always comes back into balance. So the balance today is the Word and the Spirit, the Holy Ghost. We need both of them. Because that’s what keeps us balanced. That’s what I pray for. Lord keep me balanced. That’s what the church should pray for all. We need to stay balanced in this time – to stay with the Word, but also not to push the Holy Spirit to the corner.
Too many ministers have put the Holy Ghost in the back room and are ashamed of Him.Well, the only being that does not want the Holy Ghost in the church is the devil. And, again, I’m not attacking anyone, we don’t do that – but if you don’t want the Holy Ghost in the church, you my friend are following after the devil.
Stay balanced, stay with God, stay with the Word, and follow the Spirit. God is with us.
