The Bible says ‘fight the good fight of faith’ in the sense that we’ve got to take a stand on what God’s Word says belongs to us and not move off of it. You can grumble, complain and gripe; or you can stand up and fight. You can complain about how bad it is for you in life, how this isn’t working, how we don’t have enough money, how my health is going down and how my children are driving me crazy; or you can stand on God’s Word. I’m not knocking anybody, I’m just telling you how this works. You start talking that way and the devil sits right beside you saying, “Oh yeah, you just thought you were crazy, wait till I get through with you!” And he will!
I’m talking about staying in faith, believing God’s word regardless of what it feels like, and continually saying the right things. Instead of saying, “My children are driving me crazy!” I’m going to say, “My children are driving me intelligent!”
Jesus said in Mark 11:23 that if you say it with your mouth and believe in your heart, it’ll come to pass in your life! It’s in the Bible! I used to have a bad habit of saying I had a bad memory. And I would say, “I can’t remember that. I don’t remember that, I can’t remember that.” People would ask me and I’d say, “I wish I could recall that. I don’t recall that, I don’t remember that.” Then one day, I was just minding my own business and I said that out of my mouth to somebody; and all of the sudden the Holy Ghost spoke to me.
He said, “You know why you can’t remember?”
I answered Him, “No. Why can’t I remember?”
He told me, “Cause you say you can’t. My Word says whosoever shall say unto this mountain be thou removed, be thou cast into the sea, shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
I responded to Him, “Well, Lord, I don’t remember. What can I say? I don’t remember.”
He said, “This is what you say instead of saying I can’t remember, I don’t remember, I can’t recall— you say ‘it’s coming to me.’” So I say, “It’s coming to me.”
Now you may say, “What if it takes twenty years?” It’d be better for it to come in twenty years than for it to never come. You know when I changed my confession, it changed what I believed inside. I didn’t change overnight. I’m not going to lie to you. I still have bad habits of not remembering, because I engrained it in myself and taught myself that I couldn’t believe, that I couldn’t remember, that I couldn’t do this – and I couldn’t do that.
Jesus said you can have what you say and of course there are actions that go to it, but if you don’t get your words to line up with God’s Word, they’re going to hinder what your actions are doing.
