Confusion has filled society and the church as to what is right and wrong. The idea is widely accepted that there are no absolute rights or wrongs. This thinking comes from listening to the wrong voice. But what voice is correct?
A voice of noise from the CITY, a voice from the TEMPLE, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompense to his enemies. (Is. 66:6)
Isaiah tells us above that there are three voices which are going to do their best to get our attention.
1. THE VOICE OF THE CITY
This is the voice of the world – ever demanding the preacher and Christian change Bible doctrine to fit their ungodly lifestyle. But Jesus said we are not of this world, we are not to be controlled by it. The church is to change the culture of the world, not the other way around. Some want acceptance so badly they yield to the voice of the city. The mindset is to go along to get along to fit in with the crowd. Jesus Christ spoke to me about 15 years ago and said, “People long to belong and desire to feel wanted and needed.” Popularity becomes more important than sound Bible doctrine. People will sometimes disobey the Bible to fulfill those desires. But there is nothing more important than doing what God says and pleasing Him, not man. Never change Bible doctrine to fit world culture. Point the culture of the world to Bible doctrine.
2. THE VOICE OF ORGANIZED RELIGION
This voice always listens to the voice of the city and grades Bible doctrine on a curve to accept unbiblical actions of society. This voice has a form of godliness but denies the power thereof. It is powerless to bring change in a fallen society.
3. THE VOICE OF THE LORD
He that hath ears to hear let him hear what the Spirit and Bible saith to the church. This is the only voice a preacher or Christian should listen to and proclaim. You listen to the voice of the Spirit and Bible, not to the voice of the city, nor the voice of the temple.
THE CHURCH IS IN THE WORLD TO CHANGE THE CULTURE OF SOCIETY, NOT TO BE CHANGED BY AN UNGODLY WORLD CULTURE.
