Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. (John 16:13)
Jesus Christ said the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth and show us things to come. Every born again believer has this ability inside them. When we fail to listen to the Holy Spirit, it causes us to miss the perfect will of God. The other side of that truth is that none of us knows it all and we are human and we can miss it.
I don’t know it all and I realize I can miss it. I have also learned it is best not to share everything the Lord reveals to me because others may misunderstand it. Kenneth E. (Dad) Hagin said in his later years that he knew many things that he had never told to anyone. He was certainly a man of great wisdom and I learned so much from his example and I am still learning. The Holy Spirit has things He wants to say today.
Is The Holy Spirit Grieved
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.(Ephesians 4:30)
The Holy Spirit can grieve just as we can. The original Greek meaning of the word grieve is to be in heaviness, to be sad or sorrowful. I have sensed this in my spirit for many years. I first heard about the Holy Spirit being grieved from the lips of Kenneth E. Hagin, a few weeks before he moved to heaven in September 2003.
There were about fifteen of us ministers having dinner with Dad Hagin one night in a private dining room, in 2003. He said, “My Lord I sense the Holy Ghost!” He began to weep with tears. He said, “The Holy Ghost is grieved with this generation because they will not take time to wait upon Him and get His plan. We have to get back to waiting on the Lord in prayer and in our church meetings. We must get back to being led by the Spirit of God and following His plans and we will leap forward in the Spirit.”
The church of Jesus Christ is missing the element of the supernatural and it grieves the Holy Spirit that we even attempt to have church without Him. My most successful times of ministry are after I am so utterly dependent on the Lord that I seek Him until His presence fills me with His Glory and I follow His plan.
The Call Of The Holy Spirit
I sense Him calling us into a place in the Spirit that we have never walked before. We have touched it briefly, but never entered fully into it because of the pressures of life, the flesh and the devil. Those things aren’t an excuse because we have overcome them all. By His mercy and grace, we will stand in this place of His power and might before the church takes flight. There will be many that will heed the call of the Spirit and walk in His ways in these days.
The Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher will take their place. The Gifts of the Spirit will be in full manifestation. The church will come into the fullness of His Glory because we will seek His face and take our place in obedience to Him.
The Importance Of Prayer
Nothing will bring us to the place in the Spirit that we need to be except prayer and meditation on the Word of God. There are many items available to us today that will assist us in church, but prayer is the vehicle that will get us where we need to be.
Every major move of God has started with someone praying. I have found myself praying for others, the church and myself. The main theme of my prayers have been about the element of the supernatural missing from the church. The Holy Ghost led me to pray that way. We must have the gifts of the Spirit, along with the ministry gifts operating in the church today. It is a call from heaven to pray about these things and we will obey Him.
Kenneth E. Hagin’s Prayer
In the winter of 1942 and into the winter of 1943, Dad Hagin was stirred to pray about the power gifts operating in the church. For several months he prayed daily to the Lord about this. At times he would find himself, at night, praying and wonder how he got out of bed and into another room. In February 1943, he became so burdened about it that he prayed for over five hours in other tongues. He said it was the longest he had ever prayed, at one time, in other tongues. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke to him and told him, “There will come a wave of divine healing at the end of World War II.” It happened just like the Lord said to him. A wave of divine healing came at the end of the war and lasted for about 10 years. I am sure that this would have never occurred unless he and others had prayed like they did. I also believe the Holy Ghost led him to pray about it and he was sensitive enough to pick it up in his spirit and obey the Lord.
Sensitive To Spiritual Things
If I get too busy in administrative things of ministry and natural activities I become insensitive to spiritual things. It hinders my ability to understand what the Spirit of God is saying unto my spirit. Yes, we do live in the natural world but when natural things become more important than spiritual things, we become dull spiritually.
I have discovered that the more I give myself to prayer the more spiritually sensitive I become. I am able to pray about things the Spirit of God reveals to me that will enhance my anointing and ministry. I am also able to pray my way out of traps the devil has set for me because the Spirit of God shows me how to avoid them. I also find that gifts of the Spirit operate through me more frequently and I see and know things supernaturally.
Take Time To Pray
If you will take time to pray in the Spirit, it will move you out of the mental realm into the spiritual realm. You will be much more effective as a Christian and minister. Mental praying alone will not get the job done. Yes, your schedule, appointments, flesh and the devil will try to keep you from praying. You must press through the veil of the flesh and commit to follow through, regardless of what comes. Great rewards await you in prayer. (end)
