Luke 22:31 states, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.”
There is a sifting going on in the world – a separation. This is also going on in the church world. The natural analogy for this is a flour sifter, to separate the pure from the impurities, to get pieces of grain and other junk out. This works the same way in the spirit. The Lord is allowing His people to be sifted to separate them. We don’t want to see anything bad happen to anyone and we want to all get along and be on the same page as much as possible, but we can’t violate the Word of God. We can’t compromise the Word of God. And we can’t do things that will hurt the church or the Body of Christ.
Have you ever thought about how Satan could sift Peter as wheat and cause him to fall. There was a reason that Satan could do this. Jesus warned Peter that this event was going to take place. He wasn’t giving the devil permission to do anything to Peter, He was just warning what was about to come. In fact, Peter denied the Lord Jesus three different times, not just one time. The Lord is telling us the same today. He’s telling us to make some adjustments in our lives, if necessary, so that when Satan comes to sift us, we shall overcome. Peter responded and told Jesus that he was ready, but he wasn’t. He needed to make adjustments in his life. Jesus was telling Peter (and us) to prepare for your future because if you don’t, you will fail.
Many struggle in their Christian walk and are tossed about by Satan, even though they are born again and on their way to heaven. Ministers and laymen alike deal with this issue of failing to live out God’s Word as it is written. Like Peter, many believers need to make changes too, if applicable, to contain the Glory and power of God that is about to come. God is trying to prepare us for His plans to come.
Satan desires to have every single one of us. However, he already has the world, so he has moved on to the church. He’s always trying to get us, to take our testimony, to take us out. If you need to make changes, then make them. Get the character of God in your life, walk in it, live it. Because God is preparing us for His power and His glory. Because the power of God will take you places, but if you don’t have the character of God, you won’t stay there.
The closer we walk to the Word of God, the more of the power of God we will have in our lives. It’s going to take the power of God to visit this generation because the glory of God will be in such manifestation in this day that we are going to have to be able to contain and carry the power. And that is what God is preparing us for. He’s not getting on to us, He’s preparing us. Be prepared.
