Why do we need to pray? Someone said, “Since God knows everything, doesn’t He know what we need?” Yes he does know, but you still need to ask Him in prayer for what you need. Here is why.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.(Gen 1:26)
THE LORD GOD GAVE MANKIND DOMINION OVER THE EARTH AND THEIR INDIVIDUAL LIVES.
In other words, He put us in charge of our own destiny. Mankind was given six thousand years to rule on the earth. The day will come when every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus Christ, and He will rule the earth for one thousand years. That day will come at the end of six thousand years. Until that day gets here you can do what you want to do.
This is a truth that has been hard for us to grasp. Many Christians and non-Christians believe that God is in charge of everything that goes on in the world and in their life. Some believe that God chooses who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. They don’t think a person has a choice, but that does not agree with the Bible. People are in charge of what happens in their life and what happens on the earth.
HOW I LEARNED THIS TRUTH
One day, while driving home from a meeting I was speaking at, I had a spiritual experience. I sensed that someone close to me was going to die. I began to pray in the spirit, and wonder in my mind who it was? This happened on a Monday morning. The sense that someone was going to die got stronger and stronger as the day went on. I kept on praying in the spirit.
I woke up Tuesday morning and the sense of death was so strong that I told my wife, Patti, that I was going to get alone and fast and pray until I knew who it was. Late Tuesday evening, I found out it was one of my board members, Pastor Danny Wallace. I was shocked because he was only 49 years old and was a man of faith and miracles. He was too young to die. He was a pastor of a thriving Church.
He had been rushed to the hospital because of physical problems he was having. The doctor told his family that his organs were shutting down and he would never leave the hospital. He would die. Everyone that knew him was shocked when they heard the news. He had prayed for many sick people and they had been healed of incurable diseases. He was one to preach strong on faith and healing, and fight for the healing of others.
I went home and got some clothes and left for the hospital he was in. It was about a six hour drive so I got to the hospital about three in the morning. I went to his room and his immediate family was there. Pastor Danny seemed to be in a deep sleep. I sensed death stronger than ever when I entered his room, and was led by the Lord not to pray for his healing. I did not know why? I got a hotel close by and got a few hours of sleep.
I went back to the hospital about daylight the next morning, which was on Wednesday. His family and I gathered in his room and begin to pray. We prayed until the evening with no results. He laid there on the bed, lifeless. About five that evening I said to myself, “Pastor Danny is not helping me and I am loosing him.” I knew I had to get alone with the Lord and find out why?
I slipped out of his hospital room and went to my hotel room. I knelt on the floor and begin to weep and cry in prayer. I said, “Dear Lord Jesus, You are going to have to tell me about Pastor Danny. I don’t know what to do.” I began to pray in the Spirit for about thirty minutes. The Lord spoke to me and said, “According to divine destiny and based upon present circumstances, Danny is going to die.”
I was shocked at what I had heard! I also knew what the present circumstances were. He had a disease in his body that was causing his organs to shut down. What I did not know is what ‘divine destiny’ was.
WHAT IS DIVINE DESTINY?
I said to the Lord, “What is divine destiny?” He said, “It is the right of choice that I give to every human being that is born on the earth.”
The Lord continued speaking to me. He said, “Danny has made the choice to come and be with me. That is why no amount of fasting or prayer will change his situation, nor will the gifts of My Spirit go into operation for him. He is going to die because he requested to.”
I asked the Lord, “Is there anyway it can be changed?” The Lord said, “If you could get him out of the coma he is in and get him to agree with you it can be changed, but he has reached the point of no return. His physical body has totally shut down.”
I KNOW WHY PEOPLE GO TO HELL
Immediately, I knew why people went to hell! God does not send people to hell, He cannot stop them from going there. He gave every human being the right of choice, or granted them Divine Destiny. He placed us in charge of our own destiny. The Word of God tells us that He is not willing that any should perish but all should come to repentance.
The next morning, I told his family and church members what the Lord said. Pastor Danny moved on to heaven just like the Lord said. God nor the devil caused him to die. He made his own choice to move to heaven.
MY DADDY WENT TO HEAVEN
One evening, my old time Pentecostal Daddy told my mother that he was going to be with Jesus the next morning. She didn’t think much of it but thought it was strange that he said it. He wasn’t one to talk very much.
The next morning, about two o’clock, my Daddy sat up in bed and begin to sing and worship the Lord. He was filled with the joy of the Lord! This lasted a little over an hour. Suddenly, his spirit left his body and his body fell back on the bed. He moved to heaven just like he said. There was no physical reason why he should die. He had lived out his life and wanted to go to heaven. Divine Destiny from God the Father allowed him to do that.
WHY PRAY?
We pray to ask the Lord to intervene in our behalf. He cannot help us unless we ask Him.
The Divine Law of God will not allow Him to make us do anything. If we ask Him to visit us with His glory, He can and will. The Lord Jesus longs to help us, but we must ask Him in prayer.
I encourage you to pray with your understanding and pray in the Spirit for the Glory of God. The Lord will visit us with Glory, miracles, signs and wonders. The Word of God states, “You have not because you ask not.” We ask in faith, believing.
