The Church Is Not A Social Club

May 17, 2022 By Rev. Randall Grier

This may be a secret to some people, but the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is not a secular business or organization and it cannot be built on all natural principles. The church was not founded to be a social club for social gathering, even though we do gather for fellowship. It was first and foremost founded by Jesus Christ to be a spiritual gathering.

Everything that occurs in the church should be submitted to what Jesus Christ desires. Jesus Christ is the head of the church, not me, or anyone else. We are to be led by His Spirit through prayer, not by our own thoughts, ideas, desires, or plans. The door to the devil is closed when we adhere strictly to the Bible and follow the Holy Ghost. Otherwise the devil will get in and cause problems. It is the goal of the devil to seduce as many Christians as he can to disobey the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible.

Sadly, many Christians are oppressed by evil spirits and some don’t even realize what is going on. They are barely hanging on before falling back into the world and living as the unsaved. I would like to blame it on anyone and anything but the church, because I am in the church too, but I can’t. The devil is dominating our nation and society with his evil influence because the church has failed to take authority over him in the name of Jesus Christ.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)

When is the last time you heard a message on 1 Peter 5:8? I say this not to find fault, but to point out why Satan is gaining ground. Many do not even realize his evil plots against them or our nation. Some Christians are so drunk on satanic lusts and are overcome by him that they just don’t see it. The devil is real and very much at work in the realm of the spirit to influence human beings to do evil things and oppose God.

Satan will pay your price, if you can be bought. He was willing to pay Jesus anything to fall down and worship him. If you have a price, the devil will pay it! The person that yields to him will always fall and fail. The devil always sets us up for failure if we follow him. The continued practice of sin will open the door to the devil to cause havoc with a person or nation. The devil is willing to give you a little success in your life if it means keeping you out of the will of God and bringing failure to you in the end. He’s willing to pay that price.

May the church realize how serious the times are that we live in, in relation to curbing evil in the world. We obey Bible scriptures and rules because we love God with all our hearts, and that closes the door to the devil.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Many people forget the entirety of this verse. We focus on the resisting the devil part, but there’s more to it than just resisting. There’s a lot of people resisting the devil in the church, but he’s not fleeing. Before you can be successful at resisting the devil, you must first submit to God. You must submit to God’s Word and His ways, which means not walking in your own ways. Not until we are fully submitted to God can we successfully resist the devil and see him flee from us. That’s what closes the door to the devil.

The social church has no authority over the devil. It cannot stop his attacks on our nation. Only the spiritual church that is submitted to the plans and ways of God, that is led by the Holy Ghost, can stop the devil through prayer. May the church realize how serious the times are that we live in. God is with us!

About Rev. Randall Grier

Rev. Randall Grier answered the call of the Lord Jesus to preach the Gospel while on his third escape from prison in May of 1982. Rev. Grier surrendered to the call of God and turned himself in to the authorities. While praying out behind the prison on April 5, 1984, he had a supernatural experience with Jesus. Jesus said, “I am anointing you today to begin to enter into the ministry I have called you to and nations and countries will be changed through this anointing.” That very day Rev. Grier entered into a powerful anointing to set the captive free. He was released from prison on August 27, 1984 after being told he would be released in the month of 'none' - all by a miracle of God!
