Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts. – Malachi 3:10-12
We must understand that all the blessings or promises of God come through the avenue of faith. Just because God has promised us something, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to receive it. We have something to do. We have to get in faith.
When we talk about prosperity in the church, especially in our circles, the first thing that people think about is money. That’s not what the Lord is talking about though. Yes, money is part of it, but that’s not the main thing.
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. – 2 Corinthians 8:9
Rich means an abundant supply. That doesn’t mean that everyone is going to be a millionaire. The Lord wants us to be a blessing to others, but this isn’t necessarily talking about finances.
Notice in Malachi that it says that the Lord will open the windows of heaven to pour out blessings so much that we cannot contain them. He’s not talking about money. If it was money, then we could just go open another bank account or go to a different bank. You can contain money, but you can’t contain the blessings of God when they’re coming from every direction all the time.
Prosperity is not about money. It is a position. Jesus left His position in Heaven to give us a position in Heaven and on Earth. The position that we have been put in through Christ is one of abundance. But there are still things that we have to do.
If we’re going to prosper, we have to do it God’s way.
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. – 2 Corinthians 9:6
Sowing bountifully is not the same for each person. You can’t compare yourself to others. You sow bountifully on the level you are on. Then you’ll grow, and you can go on from there.
Take a stand on the promises of God. He has far more for you than just money. There is a wealth of riches in Christ that many Christians never tap into, but they belong to us as we do what the Word of God says. God is with us!
