During a time of prayer, the Lord Jesus said to me, “I am not withholding My miracles, signs, wonders or Glory from the church. I’ve given it, but My people are not in a position to receive it. Stop praying for Me to send My Glory. Ask what you need to do to receive it.”
I was shocked when He said this to me because I had been praying for Him to send it for years! We need to work on the receiving end, not the sending end. God sent it, but we don’t qualify for it. Somehow we have lost the truth that we have a part to play in receiving from God. The blessings of God do not automatically fall upon us. There is a Godward side and man ward side to everything we receive from Him. He will never fail in doing His part, if we will do our part.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)
When the Lord revealed this to me, I realized I had to change the way I was praying. I had been praying for years for the Lord to send His power and Glory with very little results. Have you? The way I was praying wasn’t working, but I thought if I just kept on praying, by faith, eventually His Spirit would be poured out in a mighty way. I was ignorant of the fact that it would never happen the way I was praying.
It was during a time of fasting and prayer that the Lord made known to me that I had to change the way I was praying or His Glory would never come. Thank God for the Holy Ghost leading and guiding us! When we do things His way they always bring results. Just think of how much prayer time has been wasted praying the wrong way.
Dad Hagin Changed His Prayer
Earlier on in Dad Hagin’s ministry, He and others gathered at a lady’s home to pray for her healing. This lady had cancer and was at the point of death. There were about five of them praying for the Lord to heal her. They were gathered in her small bedroom. He said their voices bounced off the wall as they prayed. It was hard to hear because of this.
Those praying would sleep four hours a night then start praying again. Most Christians don’t pray like this anymore. They knew if the lady did not receive her healing she would die. Medical science could not help her, in her condition, any longer.
After a few days of prayer, as they were going to sleep, for four hours, Dad Hagin was wondering why they hadn’t heard from the Lord. He was sharing a bedroom with another minister. Dad Hagin said to him, “You know, I have never prayed this long about anything without getting an answer of some kind. We have been praying for the Lord to send healing. I believe we should work on the receiving end in prayer, not on the sending end. Somehow we have failed to receive what we know the Lord has already sent.”
They slept fours hours and went into the bedroom to pray again. The minister that Dad Hagin had shared with spoke up. He said, “Folks, Brother Hagin told me he believed we were praying wrong. He thinks we should pray about how to receive this healing, not for God to send it.” They all agreed and started praying for the Lord to reveal to them what they should do to receive healing for this lady.
As they prayed for the Lord to show them how to receive it, Dad Hagin was kneeling by the side of the bed. They had been praying a while when the Spirit spoke to him. “Go stand at the foot of the bed.” Dad Hagin wondered why he should go stand at the foot of the bed. Finally, he went back to praying. Again he heard, “Go stand at the foot of the bed.” He wondered why he needed to do that. He was kneeling by the side of the bed. He started praying again and he heard, “Go stand at the foot of the bed!” Dad Hagin, said to himself, “What have I got to lose, what we have been doing hasn’t been working.”
He went and stood at the foot of the bed. Suddenly, Mom Hagin came and stood at the foot of the bed and spoke in other tongues, but Dad Hagin heard her in English. The Holy Spirit said through her, “Go stand at the head of the bed and say, ‘Come out, you spirits of doubt and fear in the Name of Jesus.” He moved up to the head of the bed and said, “Come out, you spirits of doubt and fear in the Name of Jesus!”
An evil spirit arose from her body, where the cancer was, and flew out the window. Dad Hagin saw it and the other minister sensed it. Instantly the lady rose up, got out of bed and danced through the house praising God! That afternoon she went out in the backyard and ate watermelon with them! The point is, the lady would have died if they kept praying for her healing the way they were. Evil spirits had to be dealt with before her healing manifested.
The Lord revealed that His Glory would not come until the church made changes to receive it. It will be a waste of time to continue praying the way we have been. There are adjustments the church needs to make in order to receive His Glory. I encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer, pray in the Holy Ghost and find out if there are things in your life that need to be changed so that you are positioned to receive God’s Glory. Maybe there are things in your church or ministry that need to change. God knows! And He wants to show us. He’s not withholding any good thing from His children. Seek God and prepare for the Glory!
