Why We Need The Anointing

November 27, 2023 By Rev. Randall Grier

Any time the anointing comes upon you, it’s there for a purpose. It’s not just there for you to feel good. It’s there for a purpose. When it does come, don’t abuse it or misuse it. There have been ministers in the past that have misused and abused the anointing and they died prematurely. You can’t do that. That leads God’s people astray and God will not stand for it. Sooner or later, the Lord will take His hand of protection off of you because He can no longer protect you in your sin, and the devil will take you out.

Stay prayed up, so when the anointing comes, you know what it’s there for. Stay in the Word so you’re developing the character of God in your life. Walk with God, so you don’t give a foothold to the devil.

Many people think the anointing is great, but it doesn’t fall upon you unless you desire it. It doesn’t come just because you’re there. You have to desire it; you have to contend for it. It’s one of those bulldog desires.

We need the anointing. We need people contending for the anointing. It’s the only thing that is going to destroy the yoke. The yoke is not going to be destroyed because of pretty messages or book reports. A good majority of churches, I’d venture even as high as 90%, are just giving out book reports, and those won’t help anyone. It’s the anointing that breaks yokes. It’s the anointing that changes things. It’s the anointing that we need.

When you have the anointing, people will hunt you down. Blind Bartimaeus followed Jesus around to get healed because He had the anointing. The woman with the issue of blood sought Jesus out because He was anointed. Jairus hunted Jesus down to get his daughter healed because He was anointed. It’s the anointing that the church needs.

We must understand that anything you enter into with God has an element of faith to it. The same is true with the anointing. If the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you have to yield to Him. That’s faith. You have to be a willing vessel. That’s faith.

Another part is that the five-fold ministry gifts have to be in the right place so the gifts of the spirit can function like they should. The anointing brings the gifts of the spirit with it. When we don’t have the Apostle, the Prophet, the Pastor, the Teacher, and the Evangelist in their proper places, it will hinder the gifts of the Spirit. There are certain gifts that go with certain offices. When the offices are neglected or declared to not exist today, it hinders the gifts of the Spirit. It hinders the anointing.

Sometimes, you have to be where the anointing is to get the answer. Some things can come by faith, but it’s a whole lot easier if the anointing is there to supercharge it. Why couldn’t the man on the bed of sickness get healed outside of the house where Jesus was (Mark 2)? Why did his friends have to take the roof off and drop him down?

The power of God was present there to heal. It wasn’t present outside the house. It was in the house. You have to be where there is an atmosphere for God to move. You have to be in an atmosphere that honors God. That was the healing anointing. It wasn’t just healing by faith. It was the healing anointing working through the Lord Jesus as well. There are some things you can’t get outside the house because the anointing isn’t outside the house. We need the anointing in our ministries, churches, and lives. We need it. It’s not an option. Pray, desire, and believe for the anointing, and see the power of God change lives, cities, and nations! God is with us!

About Rev. Randall Grier

Rev. Randall Grier answered the call of the Lord Jesus to preach the Gospel while on his third escape from prison in May of 1982. Rev. Grier surrendered to the call of God and turned himself in to the authorities. While praying out behind the prison on April 5, 1984, he had a supernatural experience with Jesus. Jesus said, “I am anointing you today to begin to enter into the ministry I have called you to and nations and countries will be changed through this anointing.” That very day Rev. Grier entered into a powerful anointing to set the captive free. He was released from prison on August 27, 1984 after being told he would be released in the month of 'none' - all by a miracle of God!
