My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. – Hosea 4:6
Christians today need to understand the truth that there is a spiritual realm and there are spiritual battles taking place every single day. What we see with our eyes and hear with our ears is not all there is. There is more to this world than what we see.
God is a Spirit…- John 4:24
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. – Ephesians 6:12
The problems that we are facing in our nation and in the church today are not found in natural causes. There are demonic spirits involved that are trying to stop the plan of God and take out every single Bible-believing, effective church and Christian. If you’re not causing harm to the kingdom of darkness, the devil will probably leave you alone…for a little while. The Church must understand and act on the spiritual realities around us.
Prayer is not a natural issue. It is spiritual. Faith is not natural. It is spiritual. The Bible is not a natural book. It is spiritual. When we neglect to do the things Jesus said to do, we are giving the devil a foothold in our lives, our churches, and our nation.
The issues we are facing in our nation, specifically, cannot be resolved with human wisdom. You cannot solve spiritual problems with natural means. It’s impossible. That’s not how it works. For the church to be effective in dealing with the problems in our churches and nation, we must deal with them spiritually, not naturally.
Yes, both the natural and the spiritual are involved. However, for too long the church has been trying to do things naturally and neglecting the spiritual, and that’s why we have all the problems we do today. Prayer meetings are the least attended meeting today. Everyone will show up for food and fun, some will show up for a midweek service, but only the dedicated will show up for a prayer meeting. And when they do, the devil is pulling at them to distract them from doing the one thing that will stop him.
One of the big problems is that many within the Church are unaware that we are in a spiritual battle. This lack of understanding has opened doors for the enemy to infiltrate both the Church and the nation. The Bible warns us that “my people perish for lack of knowledge.” This ignorance has serious consequences, making the Church ineffective in dealing with these problems.
The Church must step up, recognize that our enemy is a spiritual enemy, and use our authority to deal with him. We’ve dropped the ball by not understanding this and not doing something about it. This gap has allowed the enemy to gain ground. We must get back to understanding what the fight we are in involves, because we are in a fight. The Christian life is not a sit-back and relax kind of life. It’s a life where you’re going to have to stand up and fight—in the spirit. You’re going to have to pray, use your faith, use your authority, and not back down.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The Church is at a time when we have to make a decision—will we stand up and fight or will we sit back and watch the devil take over? If you don’t want your nation, the devil does. If you don’t want your family, the devil does. If you don’t want to take the time out to fight for these things, the devil does. It’s up to us. We have the authority, but we have to use it. God is with us!
