God is not a deadbeat dad! He isn’t gonna leave you high and dry. But you have do your part. You have to get in on the action. You have to do something. And that means sowing!
Now, some of you are tight as bark on a tree. You hold onto your money like it’s the last dollar on earth. But the Bible says, “He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” It’s right there in 2 Corinthians 9:6! It doesn’t get much clearer than that, does it?
I remember when I was getting ready to buy that Cessna 421. I needed a half a million dollars I didn’t have. Understand that some may think that an airplane is a status symbol, but it’s not. It’s a tool to get me to where the Lord wants me to preach. Commercial airlines are so unreliable today, as many know. And if you drive all the way that I usually have to, you’re worn out by the time you get there and you can’t give your best for the Lord. But I needed a lot of money because the Lord led me to get a new airplane, this 421. Now, I could’ve sat around and whined about it. I could’ve said, “Oh, woe is me! I’ll never get that airplane.” But I didn’t!
I started speaking words of faith. I started saying, “My God shall supply all my need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” I started saying, “I give, and it shall be given unto me; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.” I started delaying the Word over my life and my situation.
And you know what? It worked! People started calling me up, wanting to donate to this. A church in Neely, Nebraska, population of about 2,100, sent me $50,000. One of my board members and his wife gave $100,000. In less than a week, I had all the money I needed to pay cash for that airplane.
But here’s the kicker: During that time, God impressed on me to sow about twenty, thirty thousand dollars here and there. Now, that didn’t make a whole lot of sense in the natural. I needed money, and He was telling me to give it away.
But I’ve learned over the years that God’s ways aren’t our ways. And when God tells you to do something, you better do it.
So I sowed that money. And you know what came back to me? I received that airplane debt-free, and I had the money to hire a full-time mechanic.
That’s the law of sowing and reaping, folks! You can’t just sit around and expect God to dump blessings in your lap. You gotta get out there and plant some seeds.
I had heard that there was another minister who was believing the Lord for a big fancy aircraft. It’s one you could crank it up right here and go straight to Europe. God told me to take some of the blessings I had and help him with his airplane. I thought it was a lot but the Lord said, if you want to step up, you help him step up.
Now, I’m not just talking about money. You can sow time, you can sow encouragement, you can sow a helping hand. Whatever you sow, you’re gonna reap. But make sure you’re sowing in faith.
So, I challenge you, get out there and start sowing! Find someone to bless. Find a ministry to support. Find a need
