Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin was reading through the Bible one time when the Lord stopped him and gave him a revelation on Mark 11:23. You might have heard this before, but it bears repetition. It will bless you and build your faith.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. – Mark 11:23 KJV
As Dad Hagin was reading, the Lord stopped him and asked him if he noticed how the word “say” in some form was there three times, but “believe” was only there once. He kindly responded and told the Lord that no, he hadn’t noticed that.
Then the Lord gave him, as us by extension, the revelation that the whole body of Christ needs to hear. To get your prayers answered, you’re going to have to do three times as much saying as you do believing. Most people don’t miss it when it comes to the believing part. That’s what the Lord told Dad Hagin. Where they (we) miss it in the saying part.
This seems so simple, yet people miss it all the time. You will have whatsoever you say. The words you speak set the course of your life, because honestly, you believe what you say most of the time. The problem is that what you say is the wrong thing, and it shows what you really believe.
If we believe that we’re actually healed like the Bible says, we’re going to say it. The bigger problem is that the devil knows this, and so he targets the words you speak. What we meditate on, think about, and say is what manifests in our lives. So the devil tries to get us to meditate on things that don’t agree with the Word of God, or he tries to get us to think on things contrary to the Word. And then he can get us to say something that also doesn’t agree with the Word because that’s what we’ve been meditating on and thinking about.
Yes, it’s important to believe what the Word of God says, but you also have to say it. Get the negative talk out of your life and put the words that line up with THE Word in your life.
We have to recognize that everything that we have in our life today is the result of what we said yesterday and the days prior. And most likely, those words were not intentional. We just let them fly out of our mouth without a check or any kind of guard against what we said.
But to receive what the Word of God promised, what we desire in our life, we have to be purposeful in our prayers, in our faith, and in our words. Stop the negative talk.
This was brought this to my attention years ago. I kept on saying, “I don’t remember” or “I can’t remember that,” until finally one day, the Lord asked me, “Do you know why you can’t remember that?”
I honestly answered and told him that I didn’t know. Then He gave me the eye-opening revelation. He said that you can’t remember because you say you can’t remember. And that’s what led to my memory struggles. He reminded me, “You can have what you say.” That changed my thinking and my words right there. But I asked Him what I was supposed to say if I couldn’t remember. I didn’t want to lie. He told me instead of saying that, I should start saying, “It’s coming to me.” And it has. The Word of God works.
So we have to stop the negative talk. And we must boldly declare the outcome that we want to see. What does the word of God say? What do we want to see in our lives? Then say it!
We also have to understand that persistence is key. If you’re not persistent and consistent, it’s not going to work. You can’t be believing one thing, saying one thing, and the next minute saying something completely different. So you had to be persistent and consistent in the words you speak and in what you believe.
You have to ask yourself, “What do I want to see come to pass in my life? What does the Bible say?” Then you have to believe that, and then say it, say it, say it! God is with you!
